The Lines They Draw (Spoken Word)

They try to divide us

With lines that are tribal

Fail then quote a verse from the Koran or the Bible

So they can incite us

Convince us we’re rivals

Fighting in a jungle for our own survival

Might as well throw us a glock or a rifle

Shoot shoot…Please stop the violence

Funny thing is it was the same ideas once used to colonize us

Today we know better but still fail to unify us

We rather stand idle

Like we did on their arrival

When convinced us our gods were idols

So with that said I fear no man

And I pray no god

For if she made me, she must respect me

God as a woman, something for your perception

Like a blue eyed Jesus, something for your reflection

Seems like for truth all we have is

Illusions and delusions bring mass confusion and hallucination

It’s 2015 and we remain wake walking as a nation!

How does this all make me feel?

Makes me feel like saying ‘damn it all’

Damn the systems, damn the government,

Damn the culture, and yes, damn the gods

Damn you, and damn me too!

But where there is life there is hope

We are the youth of today

We are tomorrow’s heirs

So rather than despair

We must seek to repair

I will leave you with the immortal words of Mr. Lennon

“Maybe I am just a dreamer, but I’m not the only one,

Maybe someday you will join us and the world will live as one”

To live together, first we must love together

Love is my religion

What do you believe in?
